Treshnish Textured Cushion 1

Made exclusively for Draumr, the Treshnish Textured Cushion by Veronica forms part of a collection inspired by the Treshnish coastline of the Inner Hebridean island, Mull. Veronica has distilled the essence of the Atlantic shoreline: the dark greys of the volcanic rocks covered in vibrant ochre and yellow seaweed contrasting with white sandy beaches, and, away from the reach of the sea, the soft pink of the sea thrift that grows in cracks and fissures sheltered from the wind and sea spray.

The colours and textures are a vivid representation that reflects her own visual and emotional memories of time spent exploring the beaches and hidden coves on the headland. The whole collection has been woven from incredibly soft organic wool and Alpaca yarn combined with British spun merino wool. The pattern is traditional and uncomplicated, paying homage to the beauty of the materials. The unfinished fringing reduces the amount of waste involved in the production of the piece.

Every piece Veronica weaves has a memory associated with it, and the hope is that it will become a cherished possession that will come to have its own associated memories to whoever it belongs and in turn will become part of that person’s story.
