Het verhaal van de maker

**weaver, art historian, designer**
I weave, design, research and write. I love the age-old craft and the tactility of yarns and fabrics. I use all my senses when weaving. Choosing the materials, the colours and the patterns in combination with the meditative nature of the weaving itself, takes me to another world, that of creativity.

For my weaving assignments I focus on the minimalism of Japan, the play of light and dark through different weaving techniques and working with natural and sustainable materials. My projects investigate textile art, the 'new materialism' and the role of women in art. In this way the worlds of art, design, craft and art historical research are interwoven.

I prefer to weave with Dutch wool (Texelaar, Drents Heideschaap, Fries Melkshaap, Swifter); it is not only of high quality but also beautiful in colour. As a member of Fibershed I contribute to the production of sustainable and local textiles.

After an international career as a political scientist in Brussels, Bucharest and London, I finally decided to focus solely on art and culture. I started studying again, this time with my head and heart. In addition to obtaining a Master's degree in Art History (2022), I followed the training at the Weaving Academy of Sytze Roos and did a masterclass in Linen Weaving and a Journeyman Master project with Eva Klee.

I would like to take you into the sustainable world of hand-woven textiles, its history, modernity and especially its beauty.
